Auto-Fiction – Dance
by human playground (Montreal)
Three dancers converse with a car parked in public space, which becomes their meeting point. An urban activist event, it delivers a simple message: we must rethink our relationship to the automobile and re-vision the car’s place in the city. The automobile forces the dancers to interact with it and adapt their movements to its technological presence.
Choreographed to explore the relationship between the human body and the car, Auto-Fiction relates stories ranging from a tragic accident to a simple travel anecdote, thereby culminating in an observance of the urban landscape and the car-filled world which surrounds us. Auto-Fiction imbues itself in this mode of transport which has proven to be a determinant of culture in the 20th century.
