L’horloger – Audio performance
by Martin Messier, from the Ekumen Collective (Montreal)
L’horloger is an audio performance which uses various alarm clocks as its main source of sound. Martin Messier reinvents the use of these mechanical devices by manipulating them so that the melody comes free from the clock mechanism. Ideas of remembrance, the present, cycles - in other words, time - are inherent to the performance. L’horloger makes reference to the space of time, its elasticity and its irreversibility. A real exploitation of the concept of time has led to this extraordinary audio experience.
