Timbervision - Music and video
by The National Parcs (Montréal)
From the multicultural streets of Montreal where they grew up, musicians Vincent Letellier, Chimwemwe Miller and videographer Iann Cameron left on a journey to the forests and lakes of the Bras-Coupé Desert in search of the noises of nature. Their organic compositions interlace afrobeat, grime, baile funk and Malian blues, combined with their sampled sounds of nature, to produce a highly memorable motley.
Former members of Freeworm, the three young men joined their talents in 2001. “Their creed: urban music mixed with samples from nature recorded in the forest. Sounds of waterfalls, the sawing of a log, the rumblings of stones…The trio that is The National Parcs have no limits.” (Gilles Médioni, Journal l’Express). Their latest album, Timbervision, is at once a CD of songs and a DVD whose music and cinematography took six months to produce: “Our ambition was to develop our own vocabulary, to use sound and image at the same time. We let ourselves be inspired by the environment.” The trio invites you to a show brimming with visual and musical stimuli during the EIM evening at the Shed 16!
“La forêt boréale devient le théatre de leur magnifique délire très rythmé: le plaisir de visionnement et d’écoute est alors immense.” Tony Tremblay, Bande à part, June 5 2007
“Joué sur scène, Timbervision est une performance digne d'un musée d'art contemporain.” Gilles Médioni, Journal l’Express, August 21 2008
