La 2e Porte à Gauche (Montréal)
La 2e Porte à Gauche is a production house specialized in contemporary dance. Its mandate consists in creating dance events that question conventional locations of representations; they also favor collaboration between artists and rethink the relationship with the public through the discipline of contemporary dance. This connection with the public becomes not only a research field but also a creative engine.
Cofounded in 2003 by the choreographers Marie Béland and Frédérick Gravel, La 2e Porte à Gauche has been administrated since 2006 by Amélie Bédard-Gagnon, Marie Béland, Johanna Bienaise, Frédérick Gravel and Katya Montaignac, all professionals working in the contemporary dance scene. Composed of choreographers, interpreters and researchers all wearing several professional outfits, the team aims at considering their projects through different angles. Their events gather a large number of choreographers and artistic collaborators who punctually join the collective. As being a big actor in the creation of organizing innovative projects, La 2e Porte à Gauche holds a unique place in the cultural landscape of Montreal and Canada, not only with its artistic projects but also by its original structure.
They will be at the Escales Improbables to present Le Bal Moderne where two professional choreographers will teach a dance routine to the public in an atmosphere of conviviality and fun !
