Forestare (Montreal) – Music and projections

By inspiring themselves of the atmosphere of the Shed 16, Forestare has built a performance specifically for our event Soirée de sentier. From the industrial world to ancestral traditions, Forestare will transport you between these two poles like the ying and yang of our 21st century urban condition.

They will start their performance with Racines, composed by Pascal S. Quoquochi, which will lead to Steve Reich with Electric Counterpoint - a famous composition which inspired lately Pat Metheny, The Kronos Quartet, as well as the English electronic music band The Orb. Forestare is the first ensemble to have recorded the second version of Electric Counterpoint, which Steve Reich had written specifically for an ensemble of guitars. Forestare will end its performance by transporting you to Wemotaci, an Indian reserve of Quebec, with the musical piece Chaman by the native composer Pascal Quoquochi.

Serge Paradis, ICI, March 22 2007
